Intervention

Year one explores the main strategies we employ when re-using existing buildings working with different briefs informed by the agenda of year two platform pairings Matter & Detail, Process & Nonterior, Re-use & Urbanism and Display & Futures. As a result the ‘intervention’ strategy was used to interrogate four different sites and briefs.

When the interior design strategy of intervention is employed the existing building will be modified to accept the introduction of new elements meaning that the host building will be irrevocably changed. The new interventions will be driven by the nature of the existing site but they may assume a form that opposes that which was originally there.
